Federal Pell Grant
The Pell Grant is a program of student financial aid authorized by Title IV, Part A, of Educational Amendments of 1991. Starting with the school year 2008-09 this program may provide a grant up to $4731.00 for all eligible students to assist them in meeting educational costs. Pell Grants are awarded according to credit level per semester.

Federal Supplementary Educational Opportunity Grant
The SEOG grant is available to all Ridgewater College undergraduate students with exceptional need.

ALLISS Grants
Eligible Grant recipients must:

• have been out of high school for at least seven years.
• be enrolling in a college for the first time, or not have been enrolled in any college for at least seven years. (Students who are enrolled in consolidated colleges and meet all other eligibility requirements, are able to participate.)
• not have earned a baccalaureate or higher degree.
• enroll only in a college course that would be accepted as part of a degree program.
• meet the legal definition of Minnesota residency including aliens granted permanent residency status.

Grant Administration

• A grant shall be for one semester only.
• A grant shall be for a maximum of one course up to five credits. Required textbooks for the course are also covered.
• Applications for Alliss Grants shall be accepted at the time of registration.
• Grants shall be restricted so as not to include courses that are required for on-the-job training or customized for business and industry.
• Grants are for fall and spring semesters, as well as summer sessions.

Conditions for Reimbursement
Tuition for one class, up to five credits for one semester (to exclude student association fee, application or record fee, special course fee, and supplemental life fee).

Required books and materials.

Excludes students receiving financial aid or "free" credits (for example, faculty, administration, etc.).

Minnesota State Grant Program
Minnesota residents who have not completed the equivalent of five years of post-secondary education may be eligible for this grant program. Awards are based on financial need. Note: It is awarded according to credit level and direct costs.

State Indian Scholarship Program
This award is based on financial need. Requirements: one-fourth or more Indian ancestry, resident of Minnesota, member of recognized Indian tribe, high school graduate or have GED, ability to benefit from advanced education and approved by Minnesota Indian Scholarship Committee.

Veteran's Educational Benefits
Certain veterans and their children are eligible for educational benefits under the G.I. Bill and other laws. A child of a veteran who has been disabled, who has died in service or who has died of a service connected disability may be entitled to education benefits. These tax free benefits vary depending upon the number of hours the student is enrolled and the number of dependents. For further information, contact the Veteran's Administration or the Veteran's Service Officer in your area. Students receiving veteran's benefits must contact the Admissions/Counseling Office at the time of acceptance.
